Partnership With One Tree Planted

 

In August of 2021, Softie Beauty was delighted to partner with the non-profit organization One Tree Planted to help combat deforestation in Indonesia. For every product sold containing palm oil, Softie Beauty will plant one tree with the help of this organization. 

Why Indonesia?

In 2018, Indonesia was responsible for 57% of palm oil production in the world. When the vast rainforests and peatlands are bulldozed to make more land for palm oil production, communities are displaced and precious ecosystems for Sumatran tigers, orangutans, and countless other species are destroyed. Peat in Indonesia also contains 35 billion tons of carbon. When this is disturbed and replaced with plantations, the carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere contributes to greenhouse gas effects and climate change.

Why Softie Beauty?

Palm oil is used as an ingredient processed foods, but also for soaps and cosmetics. As a handmade soap and cosmetics company, Softie Beauty is aware of the implications of using palm oil in the creation of our products. We took the first step to use sustainably sourced palm oil from Palm Done Right to ensure all our products are sustainably made. We feel it is our responsibility to educate and help reduce the global effects of our industry on the environment. We wanted to take our contribution an extra step further and help rebuild the forests destroyed by large cosmetic companies. Softie Beauty will plant one tree in Indonesia for every product sold that contains palm oil, to help reduce our environmental impact.

Why One Tree Planted?

One Tree Planted is a non-profit organization with volunteers and planting events all over the world that help combat deforestation.
